Justine Travis
My name is Justine Travis and I was born on November 20th, 1991. My father is Kirk Travis, my stepmother is Judy Travis, my mother is Mary Beth Rogers, and my stepfather is Jeff Rogers. I have one younger brother named Andrew and two older stepsisters named Jennifer and Sam. I have always loved animals and I have four cats, two dogs, and a goat.
I am a Shepherd High School senior and my goal throughout school has always been to be the valedictorian. I participated in the volleyball program for four years and I played on the basketball team for three years. I was inducted into the National Honor Society last year and I was named the treasurer this year. Two years ago I started the Science Club and I have been the president ever since. I have done various baby sitting jobs over the years and I am a Farmer's Market sales person during the summer.
An influential event in my life was when my parents use to take me down to the aquarium in Myrtle Beach. I could spend hours roaming the aquarium looking at all of the creatures, going to the educational classes and even touching horseshoe crabs. My passion for science grew because of this event. This is so important because my college career and my future are based on my love of science.
Next year I will be attending the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University. I plan to earn a degree in biology with a pre-veterinary track. After I graduate from Grand Valley State University, I hope to be accepted into the Veterinary College at Michigan State University. After graduate school, I plant to work at a veterinary clinic until I accumulate enough information and experience to open up my own clinic.
