Individual Goals
The objectives of this outcome are set forth to ensure that a student will set and work toward personal goals and assess his/her progress in achieving those goals.
During my junior year of high school, I took the ACT and received a composite score of 29. In my school a formula is used that includes both grade point average and ACT score to determine valedictorian. While this was a good score, I needed a score of a 32 in order to become my graduating class' valedictorian and that is why I made a goal to retake the ACT and achieve a score of 32. Over the next year I studied harder, took advanced classes, and practiced with an ACT prep book. When it was time to retake the ACT in February, I felt confident and I did the very best that I could. A month later I received my student report from the ACT and discovered that I had met my goal and would become valedictorian. What you are looking at above is my official ACT score of 32.

In the 6th grade I made the long term goal of become valedictorian of my graduating senior class. From that moment on I worked harder, took all the advanced classes, and always gave 100% in everything that I did. In eight grade I was named the top student and that just further encouraged me to go for my goal over the next four years. I hit a snag in my junior year because I did not receive a high enough ACT score to be valedictorian, however I did not let this discourage me. I retook the ACT and earned the score that I needed. The letter above explains that I am ranked #1 in my class and this shows that I have kept and met my seven year long goal.

Once I had been accepted to Grand Valley State University, my next goal was to be accepted into their Frederik Meijer Honors College. I devoted a lot of time and effort into my application for the honors college because it was very important to me. To help make my application even better I talked with the director of the college and had my English teacher read over my essay portion of the application. Once I was satisfied with my application, I sent it in and a few weeks later I met my goal when I received my acceptance letter to the honors college.
